How to Manually Configure Printers on a ThinX Device 

Objectives

This document explains how to manually configure printers (local or network) on a ThinX based device.

Applicable Software Versions

This document is applicable to a device with the following firmware version:

Chip PC ThinX device firmware, version 1.1.0, build RL0.150802 and above.

General

A ThinX based device can be centrally administrated via the Chip PC Xcalibur Global Management software or it can be manually configured on a local per device basis.

The printer settings on a ThinX based device can be configured both via Xcalibur Global and manually. The following procedure is applicable for an environment without Xcalibur Global.

ThinX Printer Configuration

On the ThinX device, select Start > Settings > Device to open the
LBT Configuration dialog.

In the LBT Configuration dialog, select the Printers category. The device supports up to three printers, 2 local printers that are connected directly to the device (lp0, lp1) and 1 network printer (rm0).

In the Printers dialog, perform the following:

Select the desire printer device (lp0, lp1 or rm1).

Click Properties, to open the Device Properties dialog.

In the Device Properties dialog perform the following:

In the Printer Name field, type a unique descriptive name for the printer.

In the Driver field, type the name of the driver that will be used by the printer.

The name of the driver must be identical to the driver name that is   used by the server.

For lp0 and lp1 skip steps 3.3.3 and 3.3.4.

In the Host Name field, type the IP address or the NetBIOS name of the computer to which the printer is connected.

In the Queue Name, type the name of the printer’s queue as it appears on the host.

Click OK to return to the Printers dialog.

Click Test to send a test page to the printer.

Settings available via the Advanced button should not be modified.

Click OK to save the settings and click Yes to restart the device.

In RDP connections, the following additional settings are required:

When creating or editing an RDP connection, select the Local Devices tab.

In the Local Device tab, select the Printers check box.

Click OK to save the connection settings
